Technology Fashion

I enjoy working with fashion not because it’s fancy but because Cambodia needs to improve its own fashion style. Technology fashions mostly appear in the western countries; a few Cambodian understand how technology might totally change the fashion world while many others don’t even know what technology is due to fashion. NeoDress was made for a night party. Adafruit Flora, NeoPixel LED Light, JavaScript code and sewing skill are all required in this project. As a Liger student, I know how important it is to make a change and take advantage of my opportunity.

Community Guitar

Many Cambodian students really wanted to learn how to play guitars, but they can’t do that due to the price that they have to pay to get into a guitar class. Chhoeu, which is the leader of this group (Khmer Community Guitar) is really passionate about music. So many students in Takeo province, which is his hometown were asking him to teach them on how to play guitars. He has a point that nowadays, many teenagers in Cambodia are exposed to bad activities, such as using drugs and alcohol, and this might stop them from achieving their goals. Khmer Community Guitar is a program that’s aiming to help the students in the community who have passion and are interested in learning on how to play guitar.

Sonnet

I am a diamond in my parent’s eyes
Adorable, intelligent and kind
Aggressive and sometimes a little shy
But I’m still in everyone’s heart and mind

My laugh usually makes them both happy
My smile makes friends and teachers want to stay
But I’m still crying and sometimes I’m silly
That why my aunt still want to leave today

Many people would like to play with me
Play game, reading, writing and have a talk
But I’m a girl that likes to stay lonely
Sometimes quite and want to have a walk

I end up with no one understand me
That why I born with Rith Sovannary

Project Base-Learning

Project-based learning is an educational method that involves inspiring students in problem-solving and investigative activities to gain deeper knowledge, skills, and experiences; giving students the opportunity to actively explore challenging questions and real-world problems outside of the classroom resulting in realistic products, solutions or other outcomes.

We are the group of students that want to change Cambodian Government school curriculum. We knew that many students start to get boring in class after sitting for 2 hours and listening to a teacher. So we come up with the ideas of focus on four main points (study in the real world, researching, problem-solving and product or outcome). So far we have been working with Chbar Ampov high school and Krojes Krong high school in Kratie. We can see that they have changed a lot in the past week. Most of them happy to work in the groups, brave to do the presentation in front of many people and they know how to interview people in a polite way. Not from this observation but we also can see from our evaluation team that students really want to have this PBL in their school and they hope we can go and do this project again with them.

Marine Conservation Cambodia

We are Marine Conservation Cambodia is a group of 12 students from the Liger Learning Center, in Phnom Penh, learned about marine conservation in Cambodia, during seven weeks long project.  The group researched to learn more about marine life and understand the problems of marine ecosystems in Cambodia. The biggest goal of this Exploration is to protect marine ecosystems in Cambodia. To accomplish this goal we worked really hard to finish the Proposal for a Feasibility Study of Algal Farming as an Alternative Livelihood for Cambodian Fishermen. This document explains a major problem for Cambodian marine ecosystems, a possible solution, the proposal for a feasibility study that would include all Liger senior students 2016 – 2017, and information about what was learned in this pilot Exploration. We also took a trip to Kep province to visit MCC which is an organization that is working on the protected marine ecosystem around Koh Seh. We spent 1 week on the island for researching and learning about seahorse habitat, history of the bunker on the island, learning about the organism on the island and in the sea. We also get a chance to snorkel, scuba dive, and other activities.

Medicational Plants

My Independent Discovery is about Medicational Plants. I have been working on it for about 2 months by my own and get some help from one of my teacher (Karen). In this project, I do research about the benefit of many plants species for our health.  Right now I have 33 species in my document such as herbs, vegetable, and fruit. After this research am going to turn some of the information into the book and share it with the community people that near my school campus. I also share my research to Cook Book Exploration. They are going to study how it benefits to the health, and they are going to think that is it the good plants that they should include in their Cookbook or not. I am very proud of myself that I can share my study to the other friends, especially I know that the work that I have been working for 2 months is useful for the other people.

Minister Day at Liger

On 12th January 2016 Liger school have a big sharation of sharing the school curriculum to around 50 people from the Minister of Education, Youth, and Sport.  We rotated them around the building to see our presentation. I was presenting in Khmer and English Literacy class which is on Khmer section.  Everyone in the group was presented in Khmer. My friends and I were very nervous because this is the first time that we presented to His and Her excellency and we needed to make sure that when they left our class they got what Liger goals and curriculum on Literacy. After we presented some of them asked us questions and some gave feedback. Every time they asked or gave feedback my heart jump very fast but I still smile. I think this is one of the good experiences for me to feel like the other people when they get a chance to present to the Minister.

Idiom : See eye to eye

In Literacy class this year everyone learns idioms. We learn many of them and each one of us makes a poster for it to hang on a wall. I also make one. My idiom is See Eye To Eye. If you read it at the first time without knowing it is an idiom I think you will confuse it with people look at each other with eye to eye. If you want to know the real meaning of this, then check it out down here.
